The Chargelounge ONE was constructed under the direction of the Fraunhofer Institute IAO in Stuttgart financed by the state of Baden-Württemberg and other sponsors and was shown for the first time at the Hannover Messe 2014.

The original charging equipment for the Chargelonge was the 20kW charger coffee&charge, nowadays available as the multifunctional testing device move&charge. The Chargelounge is meant to be connected to weak grid connections by means of a built in buffer storage.
